Are cancer and heart disease optimal outcomes?
Pharmacists: We made a promise to assure optimal outcomes for our patients; yet, chronic diseases are killing our patients, especially cancer and heart disease. What kind of "optimal outcomes" are cancer, heart disease and inevitable death? Prevention and wellness (the 8 dimensions, especially physical, social, and emotional) are the only cures. Please examine your hearts and souls the next time you dispense a pharmaceutical to your patient that cannot really afford the drug in the 1st place, knowing that if you had been an advocate of health and did more to assess risks of chronic disease, preventing patients from suffering needlessly, they wouldn't even need the drug.
Yes, of course, we all need to eat and pay bills, so we need salaries and income. I'd rather dispense wellness, though, because only wellness is safe and effective. Where all my wellness pharmacists at?
