National Saxophone Day, November 6, is upon us. Grover Washington, Jr. can be credited with virtually inventing the style of smooth jazz that later became so prevalent, and in that way he has been highly influential. The smooth jazz genre adds a smooth component to musical art and is incredibly soothing. Grover Washington was one of my first patients as a brand new licensed pharmacist in Chestnut Hill/Mt. Airy (Philadelphia). Small stature, big sound, very gentle and kind. 1983. (How I miss those days, those times. But the growth, and evolution in accepting that wellness is the key to health-I wouldn't trade that for anything.) Gone way too soon, had a massive heart attack 5 days after his 56th birthday, after playing four songs at CBS' The Early Saturday Morning Show. I can still see your glow and hear your flow Mr. Washington-in the Winelight. #groverwashingtonjr #saxophoneday #musictherapy #emotionalwellness
