"...these kids shine like diamonds. It shows what mentoring can do."
-Tina Knowles Lawson, USC 2018 Baccalaureate
Tina Knowles Lawson spoke at USC's 2018 Baccalaureate about mentoring-her call at this stage of life. She and her husband Richard Lawson mentor kids that wouldn't have the opportunity or exposure otherwise with their program Tina's Angels and Richard's Warriors housed at the WACO Theater Center.
So thankful to both Tina and Richard for their dedication to mentoring. I am reminded of my own mother, Edythe Urquhart Joe, RN, 1935-2000, who
preached and delivered mentoring to both my brother and I and our community. She was adamant about making sure we had all of the opportunities and exposure possible, as this is key in leveraging social wellness and subsequent health.
My bother and I never felt like we didn't belong as we took our place at ice skating shows, equestrian events, scouting trips, and band competitions, for example.
My significant other shares this commitment to mentorship, also. He is an amazing man with brilliance beyond compare; yet, he realizes without the guidance and commitment of a dedicated mentor, social wellness, and to a very large degree, financial wellness, as well, become unobtainable. Subsequently, without measurable wellness, diseases like depression, hypertension, and cardiovascular disorders ensue.
So, get your social wellness and financial wellness, so that you can get your health and kick chronic, preventable diseases to the curb.
Helping you to open your own Wellness Window®. Laughs, love, and light all ways shine in this window. Chronic disease goes out while wellness comes in. Health shouldn't be a pain.
