Had we only remembered that Argent told us in their 1972 #5 release on the Billboard Hot 100 to "Hold Your Head Up," #techneck wouldn't even be a thing. And besides holding your head high exudes confidence (even when you are feeling uncertain.)

IF THE ELEVATOR TO SUCCESS IS BROKEN TAKE THE STAIRS
If you've found your way to the Wellness Window, consider yourself in receipt of a gift with this entry. Shared in its entirety is the 34 minute (November 16, 2017) TheGrio interview of actress, comedian, singer and activist Jenifer Lewis-compelling to the last second.
No different than an icy flame that stimulates while simultaneously soothing, Lewis massages your heart while calling you to be your best self-in spite of yourself and the current political and darkness that we are experiencing.
After viewing this interview and hanging on her every word (like I did), you won't be able to be anything but your best self ever again.
For those very few that have not heard of or seen Jenifer Lewis, 60, she is one of Hollywood's most familiar faces, with more than 300 appearances in film and television and was dubbed a "national treasure" by TV Guide.com and is known as The Mother of Black Hollywood, which is also the title of hercurrent book and memoir.
Her current role as mother and grandmother Ruby Johnson on the hit ABC show, Black-ish, earned her a nomination for the 2016 Critics Choice Award. In her characteristic unflinching style of delivery, she is raw and real and opens up about everything from losing legendary roles (including "Dreamgirls," "Orange Is The New Black", and "Getting On"), engaging in physical confrontations with fellow cast members, overcoming sexually transmitted diseases, substance abuse, and her struggle with mental illness.
Diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 1990, Jenifer says she deals with her mental health issues every day, but she’s happy with her life thanks to really loving herself.
(From TheGrio interview (11-16-2017): Jenifer Lewis says one must simply create their own life, ride the wave, come through the fire, find their passion, focus on it, get what they want, pursue happiness, get help for their addictions, and live.)

Her Dog Was Killed At A Boarding Facility. Now A Woman Has Sued To Prove He Was Much More Than A Pet
But LaPonzina said she wants more than money. She wants the courts to recognize the role pets play in the lives of their owners.
Fallen LaPonzina filed a lawsuit in D.C. Superior Court last week against Wagtime Too, which operates doggy day care and boarding facilities in Washington. She alleges that the business was negligent in allowing her dog, Dax, to be kept alongside another canine four times its weight. She is seeking $150,000 in damages...But LaPonzina said she wants more than money. She wants the courts to recognize the role pets play in the lives of their owners.
While accidents may happen, a level of care and responsibility is given to and expected of pet boarding facilities. It is interesting to note that Wagtime Too, the upscale boarding facility in Washington, D.C. had another reported incident in May 2015 as well as Wagtime Warning and A Puppy Died While In A DC Daycare-Who's To Blame? amongst a few others.
"One of the reasons for these therapeutic effects is that dogs fulfill the basic human need to touch. Even hardened criminals in prison have shown long-term changes in their behavior after interacting with dogs, many of them experiencing mutual affection for the first time. Stroking, hugging, or otherwise touching a loving animal can rapidly calm and soothe us when we’re stressed or anxious. The companionship of a pet can also ease loneliness, and most dogs are a great stimulus for healthy exercise, which can substantially boost your mood and ease depression." Don Cherry, November 18, 1936-October 19, 1995, jazz trumpeter and world fusion music pioneer, helps us to remember that in order to be boundless, one cannot believe in or be held by boundaries. Accordingly our wellness and subsequent health must not be locked in a system that only suppresses (chronic) disease with medication instead of simultaneously determining the cause (s) that could eradicate the disease.
Disease Eradication > Disease Management
When people believe in boundaries, they become part of them.- Donald Cherry, 1936-1995
Ann Buszard once couldn't get out of a chair, according to her Starting Strength trainer. But now, the 76-year-old woman has beaten all odds. She deadlifted 200 pounds in front of a cheering crowd at the United States Strengthlifting Federation Fall Classic in Illinois.
Although a minority of older US adults met strength training (ST) recommendations, guideline-concordant ST is significantly associated with decreased overall mortality. All-cause mortality may be significantly reduced through the identification of and engagement in guideline-concordant ST interventions by older adults
Strength training is physical activity intended to increase muscle strength and mass... In 2004, strength training was least prevalent among those aged >65 years (14.1% among men; 10.7% among women). Prevalence of strength training among men and women decreased significantly as age increased (p<0.001. However, men aged >65 years had a significant increase in prevalence during 1998--2004, and women aged 25--34, 45--64, and >65 years had significant increases during the same period.
Within a month of learning how to lift weights, she noticed she had more energy without needing as much sleep, she felt far less stressed out, and she saw her body tone up fast... "Strength training is the only way you’re going to truly be able to sculpt the physique of your personal dreams."
"It just goes to show that with a little guidance and a lot of determination you're capable of anything."
- Karl Schudt (Starting Strength coach)
The Barbell Prescription: An Exercise Medicine To Fight The Effects of Aging
"A growing body of published research shows that strength training is the most important form of exercise for those in their 40s and beyond."
The Beverly Hillbillies is an American sitcom originally broadcast on CBS for nine seasons, from September 26, 1962, to March 23, 1971. The show had an ensemble cast featuring Buddy Ebsen, Irene Ryan, Donna Douglas, and Max Baer Jr. as a poor backwoods family who move to Beverly Hills, California, after striking oil on their land.
Moving is not a task for the weary for there are countless challenges to wellness-especially physical, emotional, and financial wellness. Yet, when circumstances beyond your control (and on occasion, within your control) arise, moving (on) can be as uplifting as receiving an unexpected gift.
No stranger to moving, I realized that the costs of moving were not just the dollars paid to the chosen moving company. -S. L. Efua Joe, PharmD
After all years ago, The Welcome Wagon, would send out hostesses with coupons, gifts, and swag to welcome new homeowners into the neighborhood. Woefully, though, the Welcome Wagon is a thing of the past as home visits ended in 1998 in the U.S. (though Welcome Wagon Canada continues to offer home visits.) The 1998 owners of Welcome Wagon, Cendant, laid off the "hostesses", saying that changing demographics meant few homeowners would be at home when representatives called.
While I do get that demographics have changed, the need of social and emotional wellness, especially during a move, is heightened. There are some tangible things and matters of wellness that social media will never be able to adequately address.
(*Direct mail marketing franchisers, Money Mailer, now owns the former Welcome Wagon, International.)
I do believe however-in fact, I am quite certain that many of us don't always recognize when we have actually received a gift because the most precious gifts are frequently wrapped with the indinstinctive paper of truth.
This type of gift paper (or gift bag) is so cleverly wrapped with non-designer attributes, only the few that are not easily bamboozled are able to recognize the beauty of the most precious gifts. While glimmering and shiny, these precious gifts, of which I write, are not gemstones. Nor are they money or overpriced jewelry-yet, their value is priceless.
Some of you reading this blog post entry may wonder why these non-descript gifts seem only to be given and received when one moves. Ha! I have wondered that very thing myself. And thankfully, the answer, after careful consideration, has always been right in front of me/us.
Consider that when you prepare to move to a new location, you are forced to pull out furniture and objects that you rarely needed to move while inhabiting your home. Even the most tidy and astute cleaners amongst us may not have bothered to lift that heavy sofa or huge bookcase during weekly cleanings to vacuum. Instead, it probably was easier-especially if no one was around to help lift-to just dust and vacuum around the heavy object.
So, in a very real sense, weekly cleaning might be considered topical.
And it is a rare occasion where something topical or frivolous will bear the truth. Truth, you see, most often resides somewhere under the top layer, down in the fibers that aren't even touched during weekly (or monthly) cleanings.
Well, you probably have figured out the answer by now. Right?
If you guessed or reasoned that truth is rarely exposed until you move because heavy objects that obscure the truth aren't moved until they have to be-then you are correct! Congratulations. Now, that wasn't too difficult, was it?!
So my dear readers, all that I am asking of you on this wintry November Sunday (east Coast-Virginia/USA) is to consider all the costs of moving the next time you must move or choose to move. You would be well served to factor in all of the costs of moving-the moving company's charges, the boxes, the tape, the packing material-yes; but, greatest and most expensive are the costs of the truth (s) that will inevitably be revealed when you move away the heavy obstacles.
Truths revealed are actually gifts. Even though you don't pay money or cash for most gifts, there is a cost associated with seeing and accepting the truth. Now you must understand that the gift of truth can be unnerving-so much that you may attempt to return this gift. But don't bother with trying to return it, because once you open the gift of truth, it cannot be returned and that's a good thing once you are able to fully accept the gift.
I think it's some kind of chemical reaction or something-but that's a topic for another blog post.
